Why aren’t my prayers being answered?…
When I was growing up for the most part I believed evolution. But when things were going really bad I would sometimes pray. I concluded that if there was a God he would answer my prayers immediately and if he didn’t it was because he wasn’t there! I may have had some flawed logic…
I was way off in my thinking about God, I had never been taught much of anything from the Bible so I didn’t know how to get a hold of God. First off the Bible says God does not hear the unsaved, so unless we have asked Jesus to saved us from Hell and realized he died on the cross to pay the debt we owe God for our sin we don’t have a connection to God. After I asked Jesus to save me I needed to learn how to pray How do you think your relationship would be with God if the only time you talked to him is when your in trouble?Sadly most of the time we go to God when we need something and don’t even think about him when things are going good. Do you think a Good God would reward you when your doing wrong?
Matt 6:6 ” But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” Do you pray earnestly and secretly to God, or only at the dinner table when everyone else can hear?. It’s much more amazing to me when God answers a prayers that no one else knows about.
Sometimes our prayers are not answered because we ask for things that aren’t good for us. James 4:3 ” Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. “ Just like any loving father God only wants what is best for us. Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” If we love God we are concerned with what he wants, not just what we want or think we need. God has his own goal in mind, he doesn’t want any one to go to Hell. His purpose is that none should perish and he used people to accomplish this goal through spreading the gospel. If we really love him we will do it, no matter what any one thinks. 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance”.
The Lords prayer is an outline of things we aught to cover in our prayer,it’s also important to speak from your heart and truly believe God will answer your prayers. Remember nothing is too big for God.
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. God wants us to call him father when we pray and remember he is holy and greater than all. “Mat 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” God wants us to ask him what his will is for our life, and ask where we can help him accomplish it.“Mat 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.”We need Gods instruction from the Bible everyday.“Mat 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” We need to ask God to forgive us for the things we do wrong every day or the relationship will not be good. Mat 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. “we must ask God to help us not to do wrong. Mat 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:Mat 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. We must forgive or our prayers will be hindered. 1thess 5:18 “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. “We also need to remember to thank God for what he gives us1Peter 3:5-7 ” For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:1Pe 3:6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement. Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.” Most ladies won’t like this but if we trust God he will take care of us. Wives need to let their husbands be the leader of the home. This has helped my prayer life a great deal, also studying the Bible every day for a little while and allowing God to speak to me through his word strengthens my faith. Sometimes God just wants us to wait patiently and when we least expect it he answers our prayers in a way we could not even imagine or deserve. This has happened a more than a few times to me. It taught me to appreciate God and know that the creator of the world has perfect timing, because he is perfect.
