“And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him.And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed [them] in the way.And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed [is] he that cometh in the name of the Lord:” Mark 11:7-9…
Jesus fulfilled the prophecy of the Jewish Messiah that was written hundreds of years before he came when he rode the donkey into town. “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he [is] just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.” Zechariah 9:9 What happened next was no surprise when Israel soon rejected Jesus either, that was prophesied too. “I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother’s children.”Psalm 69:8 Jesus is the Jewish Messiah it is pretty clear, He fulfilled the prophecies.
No one really knows for sure what Jesus looked like we can follow certain guidelines from the Bible. It clearly says he was Jewish and would have had Jewish features. The Bible also tells us it is a shame for a man to have long hair, so He would have had short hair. It says they plucked off his beard so we know he had a beard. We do not need an image of Jesus to go by, just an idea of what he looked like in order to understand what He did. We aught to be careful to stay away from idols!
