I talked to a guy who shot a baby…
I talked to a guy who shot a baby when I was out soul winning. He had several concerns about this situation affecting his ability to enter heaven.
Satan had actually convinced this man that he could not go to heaven. He said because he had done this he knew God would not save him now. This is a lie, Jesus died for every one no matter what they have done. We all have done wicked things. Jesus died for Hitler and Osama Bin Laden as well. Then I told him about Paul a man who actually killed Christians. He said wow that’s really bad. Then I explained that we do not work for our salvation“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9″ One of the other questions we covered was “Why would God allow this to happen?” I told him that God works all things together for good for his purposes to accomplish his will. He does not want us to sin but he uses it for good when we do. Through we might not understand it, if we look at it from a Biblical perspective it all makes sense. After I got home that day I thought about it and I realized that the baby went to heaven. Even though it seemed like a terrible situation. God was using it all for good. You might say how do I know the baby went to heaven? The Bible tells us that babies go to heaven in 2 Samuel 11:5 “And David sent and enquired after the woman. And [one] said, [Is] not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite? And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house. And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I [am] with child.” In these verses it tells us the David sinned with Bathsheba and they had a baby together when she was married to another man. Because of this God judged their sin and the baby died.”And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell [whether] GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live? But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me. 1 Sam 12:22-23″ In these verses it is reasonable to conclude that David is telling us that babies go to heaven. It is sad that a baby died and that life was not able to live out its whole capacity but that baby is in heaven now with God with no pain or suffering. Since we know that Jesus says “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6 If that baby had grown up and rejected Jesus Christ it would not be in heaven. God works all things out for his purposes. He is“not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9″ This could be the very thing that brings this man to repentance and accepting Jesus as his savior so he can go to heaven as well.
