How Can I Become The Most Sucessful Artist I Can Be?

There are several answers to this question. As an artist who struggled many years I realize a few things about being the most successful artist you can be. First of all realize what the Bible says is true “[there is] no new [thing] under the sun.”Ecclesiastes 1:9. Some one out there has a style of Art that is similar to your personality and is successful at it. You can look at the fruit on the tree, learn what they have done and repeat the process to become successful. In time past I

always wanted to be “original” and make something with out any guidance from any other artist. This stifled my work greatly and I did not learn about perspective, color theory or how to even start a painting for years. There was and is much to learn from Artist who have experience. We also need to realize the greatest Artist is God himself. He made things that are beautiful and we cannot have beauty with out God. He gives us order, colors, patterns, shades and value. Painting things that are real can teach us a lot more about beauty than making up stuff, and any thing we try to make up turns out to be recognizable as having these values in some way any ways. “All things were made by him” John 1:3 and for him.” In light of eternity our Art work will be worth nothing if it is not done for his glory, but simply for our own benefit. If it is done for his glory it will never be worthless. He knows “thoughts and intents of the heart.”Hebrews 4:12. Also we do not have to have the most costly materials. God could make beauty in every simple little thing. From a tree to a grain of sand. More effort with instruction can go a lot further than more expensive material. Lastly God says in his word we are to be “redeeming the time.”Collosians 4:5. Our work can be done better and quicker with proper instruction and less time wasted in more detail than is necessary .Take these paintings for example:

This painting has a gruesome amount of detail and took about fifty hours to paint. But it is lacking depth because I had not learned about objects getting lighter as they recede into the background and that colors become cooler as they recede in to the background as well.

This second painting was done after much more instruction and viewing Gods creation as well. Here is a much better result in less than ten hours. We can get a much better result if we humble our selves and look for instruction.
