Who will listen to the gospel? Will rich people go to heaven?
“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.” Matthew 19:24Who will listen to the gospel? It is funny to me sometimes how wealthy people respond to Jesus. Some times the wealthy people will not take a gospel tract or sometimes they make rude comments about even being given one, I feel bad for them. The people I find that are most willing to listen are middle to lower class people. Why is this? The Bible says “God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.” 1 Peter 5:5 The poor and needy are often the most humble teachable people I meet in a day. This is another passage where God talks about the rich “1Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you…
2Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.3Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days…5Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.6Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.” James 5 Here are even more verses I just found about this ““They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;…Their inward thought [is, that] their houses [shall continue] for ever, [and] their dwelling places to all generations; they call [their] lands after their own names.Nevertheless man [being] in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts [that] perish…For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.Psalm 49″
I feel bad for them they will have things in this life and nothing laid up in heaven for them, or worse they will not even go to heaven. In order to go to heaven they will have to humble themselves and ask Jesus alone to save them. In order for them to have any treasure in heaven they will have to learn to die to their selfish desires and live for God. I do not get discouraged by this at all because the Lord tells us all of these things in his word, it gives me even greater joy to know and see Gods word is true!
“8Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.9Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.10Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.11Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.16Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5
I remember those who have gone before me and other missionaries and what they have endured. That gives strength to keep going and sharing the gospel with people who are sometimes hard hearted. I will continue to pray for them and share the gospel, some will see the truth!“But Jesus beheld [them], and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
19Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;20Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.”James 5
