Baptism
What is baptism all about?
In the Bible people were baptised after they confessed their belief in Jesus as their savior.“they that gladly received his word were baptized:” Acts 2:41
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”Romans 10:9 The act of baptism does not save a persons soul, it is an act of obedience to the word of God after a person has asked God with their own heart to save them from hell, because Jesus died on the cross for their sins.
“one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:39-43 Again here in scripture we can see that baptism is clearly a symbol of your salvation. Baptism in itself does not save any one. The theif on the cross was not baptized yet he was in paradise with Jesus after he died, because he believed in his heart and asked Jesus to be his savior. A person believing in their heart and asking Jesus to save them is what actually saves their soul. “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”John 3:3 What does this mean?“For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:10 Once you have asked Jesus to save you from that point foreward you are born again and a child of God. You should follow through with baptism to show others you are now a child of God.
The word baptize means “to immerse, to submerge (of vessels sunk) ,bathe” full immersion baptism is the only kind found in the scripture. When you go under the water and come back up. “Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water:” Matthew 3:16
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.” John 10:1
