God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
“God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”John 3:16
What does John 3:16 mean? It sums up for us in one simple verse what the Bible is all about. In the beginning of the Bible we learn the history of the world where God created the earth and man…
Every thing was perfect, until Adam sinned. Then death and suffering were brought into the world. Adam was representing all people at that time and God promised to send one who would destroy death and suffering once again forever. He told us that this one we should look for would be born of a virgin “unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. ” Isaiah 9:6. Even more than that as this verse shows us, he would be God taking on the flesh of a man.
The Bible also tells us another piece of the puzzle of who the God/man would be. We are told he would be the “Lion of the tribe of Juda” Revelation 5:5. Meaning he would come from the lineage of the Jewish tribe of Judah.
The Bible tells us this God/man came to Jerusalem after he raised a man from the dead. We are told “that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus. John 11:12″. After raising the dead man ” Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written, John 11:14″. He was greeted with “branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed [is] the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.” John 12:13. Which was prophecied to the Jewish people in Zechariah 9:9 “behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he [is] just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.”
Then right before the feast of the passover “Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God; ” John 13:3. Jesus is with his disciples eating the last supper and he tell them some important things since he knew what was going to take place next. “I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also.” John 14:3. Thomas one of the disciples inquires further about how to get there. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6. Shortly after this Jesus is betrayed by one of his disciples. He is brought by Jewish soldiers unto Pilate to be crucified. Pilate interviews Jesus and says “I find in him no fault at all.” John 18:38. Then“they cried out, Away with [him], away with [him], crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King?” John 19:15. They of course did want to go forward with it “Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged [him]. And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put [it] on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands..” John 19:1-3. Jesus knew why he was continuing on “he bearing his cross went forth into a place called [the place] of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: John 19:17.
He is hung on the cross with nails, keeping in mind all those who would be going to hell if he did not do this. “Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? “Matthew 27:46. Why did he says this? He was pointing the Jews to their savior, he was directing them to the scripture in the book of psalms “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”Psalm 22:1. That way they would reconize that he was their Messiah described in Psalm 22. “they pierced my hands and my feet. ” Psalm 22:16.
Shortly after we find three days later the women visiting his grave discover “he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him. ” Mark 16:6. He rose from the grave defeating death. He truly did die for the sins of that world. That is why “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”John 3:16. If you open your heart to God and simply ask, he will save you from hell and you can be in heaven for believing on his son. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. ” Romans 10:9. Please take the time to pray and accept this free gift before it is too late.
“I know I have sinned and deserve hell. But I want you Jesus to save me and take me to heaven. Because I know you died to save me and rose again to live forever. In Jesus name I pray amen.â€
