Israel Mount Moriah Calvary Painting

MtCalvary

“Israel Mount Moriah Calvary Painting” “he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:” John 19:17

This Israel Mount Moriah Calvary Painting was heavily influenced by studying the Bible. I read rescently about “when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.” Luke 23. and also “he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:” John 19:17 This made me picture where Jesus was crucified with people watching on top of the place of the skull. I looked at pictures to get a good idea about what it looked like and read the passages pertaining to this over again until I finally arrived at this!

I found some wonderful information about Mount Calvary, Mount Moriah and the place of the skull while studying for this painting. Mount Calvary was apparently the same place the stones were taken for Solomon’s temple. The stones were quarried from the western side of the same mountain Yeshua was crucified at. Yet they were carved at the site and never was any instrument used to cut any stones any where but there. This is an interesting type of Yeshua (Jesus Christ) who died at Calvary for our sins. If we believe on him we become a lively stone cut from Calvary like the stones for Solomon’s temple.“Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 2:5 calvaryclose

There is a unique connection between Mount Moriah and the Temple Mount with the hill of Calvary where Jesus was crucified. When Solomon built the Temple,, and from underneath the mountain. at the North end The stones quarried to build the temple cut a large gorge, leaving the northernmost portion of the mountain standing alone. In Jesus’ day this portion was called Golgotha, “the place of the skull”! If you go to Jerusalem you can see the cliff where the bottom of the mountain was cut out for stones.

I also learned that the garden tomb where Yeshua was laid is right near this Mt. Calvary like the Bible mentioned. This tomb has actually been checked for any signs of a human body decaying and there was never any found. Further more this tomb was never finished! Something stopped the people from finishing it and laying bodies in it! This must have been the fact that Yeshua was laid there after he was nailed to the cross. Later he rose from the tomb defeating sin and death!“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” Matthew 28:6 It is also interesting that Abraham had demonstrated his faith by being willing to offer Isaac on Mount Moriah also. This showed us that God was going to offer his son on the Mount for our sins! Yeshua is Gods son in that he is part of God and came from God. “Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood…Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God..Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.” Genesis 22. This verse brings it all together “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” John 1:29!

Israel Painting

thyseed 10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be. Genesis 49:10

“they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them.” Genesis 24:60

This painting though it may seem odd to people who are not familiar with the scriptures it is actually a painting of the fulfillment of two prophecies we can see today fulfilled in Israel. I read them one day when I was studying my Bible and thought that it was amazing.10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be. Genesis 49:10″ We know that the tribe of Judah did keep power until the time of Yeshua (Jesus Christ). This was a symbol to tell us that Yeshua was the Christ! As I was deciding how to paint this I found an old book about Egypt left in my house by the last owners. As I was looking through it I found a picture in it of people posed just like the people in the painting holding scrolls looking at this guys feet. I thought that reminds me of the verse I had just read. Then as I was deciding on the background I found this verse in my Bible reading “they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them.” Genesis 24:60 Then I thought that was a miracle also. We hear every day that the Jews posses the gate of those who hate them! Then I decided I would paint the gate of Israel in the background. It may seem strange to some but it reminded me that God did keep these promises. His prophecies about Israel are true and his prophecies about Yeshua are true also. Yeshua died for our sins like Isaiah told us he would “he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53. David also told us who Yeshua was “they pierced my hands and my feet.” Psalm 22:16 David also told us to ask Yeshua to save us and he will! “I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.” Psalm 55:16 “Look unto me, and be ye saved Isaiah” 45:22

Flower bouquet painting

flowers

My children love picking me flowers in the summer especially in our yard. I have several more paintings of their bouquets I plan to work on among other things. It just amazes me the detail and care God has put into each little flower as I paint them and try to match their colors! It just reminds me of God’s goodness to all!

“Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?: Luke 12:28

Noah’s Ark Flood

fossils

I wanted to post “Noah’s Ark Flood” painting again since I have done some more painting on it. It takes several years sometimes for me to get a painting exactly the way it should be. If it is hanging on my wall it will bug me that it’s not right, and eventually I will get time to fix it. The theme for this painting is from the time of Noah’s flood and the effects that the flood has had on the earth. We hear a lot today that fossils took millions of years to be created but that’s not true. There was a flood obviously we can tell by all of the unique landforms we see in places like yellow stone or Zion national park, Israel, the mountains, volcanoes…ect. Even today there is evidence that the earth is tilting and the land is still settling back into place we can see this from the earth quakes and Tsunami’s. I wanted to emphasize that the fossils we see today are from the flood that took place about 4,500 years ago not millions of years. Everything we see today is the result of a great catastrophic judgment of God on mankind for sin, not millions of years. There are even polystrate fossils we can see today like tree trunks or animals that extend through many fossil layers that we are told took millions of years for each to form. This is evidence that millions of years never happened but a great flood buried many tree’s plants animals people and dinosaurs all in one great catastrophic event.

Fishers Of Men Painting

fishersofmensm

“he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes”. John 21:6

This passage is another amazing passage in the Bible that can have more than one application. “Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias” Why did Jesus do this? Jesus showed himself to the disciples multiple times after he had risen and told them “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 15:16  He reminded them of their purpose on this earth. It was not to live like every one else. It was to live by faith and reach others. Why is it that most who claim to be Christian never get a hold of the fact that they need to reach others with the gospel? It must be that they never read their Bibles themselves which reminds us over again “he that winneth souls is wise.” Proverbs 11:30. Many Christians today are coasting along attending church and singing songs but never reaching the purpose that the Lord has for their lives. The way that most Christians worship today is just a show of outward appearance and has not reached their heart. I blame much of this on the way Christians are taught to worship by their leaders today. Many churches today are a mixture of Catholicism and old testament Judiasm with the name Christian slapped on top. Your fortunate if the church your attending even shares the true gospel today. That is why we have gone back to the Bible and choose to worship the way the early church shows us to. “Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine.” repeatedly we can see Jesus have a meal with his disciples and breaking bread. After he left the disciples continued in this teaching and met the first day of the week in houses to have a meal and break bread to remember their Lord. There was no stage where one of them got up to “preach” at the rest of them. Their was teaching times but those who were listening were aloud to speak also. This is nothing like we see today in churches. Why aren’t Christians fishing for men like Christ said? Because they are not being fed the way the Bible says. “This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead…He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.” John 21.

Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.Mark 1:17

Pilate and Jesus

pilotJesus

“Pilate and Jesus” -waterbased oil on canvas

“Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!” John 19:5

I knew something bothered me about this painting I had painted a couple of years ago. It was Biblical accuracy! Jesus was wearing the robe when Pilot addressed the Jews. the first time I painted this scene I made him just wearing a cloth around his waist as to not show his nakedness. But further reading showed me that Jesus was wearing a purple robe in this scene so I repainted it!

“The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God…Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above:.they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him…Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified.” John19

This is the old one..it doesn’t have the same effect because it is not Biblically accurate. I encourage all painter who are painting Biblically to read in the King James Version Bible the scene your painting and then you can know for sure that it is Biblically accurate. Many paintings of Jesus are not right according to the Bible.

Doorknckinggreet the church that is in their house. Romans 16:5″

Why attend a House Church?

In the Bible many churches were held in homes. This is a good practice since it is what was done in the Bible! It also enables the believers to put their funds to more important things and frees them from the bondage of paying for a building and it’s maintenance. Meeting in homes makes it so that believers can give joyfully if they believe there is a worthy cause like missions or helping the poor. Meeting in homes is also an enjoyable experience with openness and honesty. Meeting in homes also helps families learn how to live together in a way that pleases God. Church is not a building it’s people. Below are Bible references for your understanding.

greet the church that is in their house. Romans 16:5

The Garden Tomb

“Empty Tomb”-waterbased oil on canvas

“Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.” John 10:17-18

The question now to ask your self is why did Jesus rise from the dead? The Bible teaches that he died, and rose again for us for all people and for their sins. He did this so that “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13 If you have not asked the Lord to forgive and save you yet time is running out. That is something you need to do for your self so you can go to heaven.

Cherokee Indians Receiving the Gospel

pilgrims2010  oil on canvas

This painting is of the Indians receiving the gospel from one of the first Missionaries to America. Much like today’s culture the Indians had some stories of a great flood and the first man Adam and Eve lingering about but they had lost their sight of the truth found in the gospel. The Indian culture at this time were not atheist but rather idolators like Americans today. They worship something. They have just replaced God with some Idol it could be self, other people, objects, or spirits. Rather than having the peace of God “the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7. They had fear that did not come from God “God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7. False religions always lead to destructive ways and eventually hell. “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.” Psalm 9:17 What a joy to know that some Indians received the gospel and were saved. Having come from the Cherokee Indian tribe myself I am glad to know that at least a remnant had access to the gospel because some were willing to bring it to them. I thought this was worth painting and reminding others of God’s blessing to those who share the gospel. “How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace” Romans 10:15

Passover

Passover began back in Egypt after Joseph was sold into slavery and God helped him to become the second highest ranking official right under Pharaoh in Egypt. During a famine his father Jacob (Israel) and eleven brothers came to live with him in Egypt… Eventually a new Pharaoh took charge of Egypt who did not know Joseph and the children of Israel. He became oppressive and the children of Israel cried out unto God. God prepared a Jewish man named Moses to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt. Pharaoh would not just let them walk out freely he refused to let them go. God sent plagues to let Pharaoh know there is a God in Israel and that Pharaoh aught to let the children of Israel go. After nine plagues Pharaoh would still not allow the children of Israel to go, so God sent the last plague. This one would be the death of all the first born sons who did not have the blood of a lamb on the door,” the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you” Exodus 12. Those who did not have the lambs blood over the door would not be “Passed over” and would lose their firstborn. “I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt,” Exodus12. Those who believed God would certainly do this as Moses had told them and those who did not would suffer great loss. Thus the first passover was eaten in Exodus 12 on their was out of Egypt “ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’S passover.” It was after this great loss that Pharaoh decided it was time to let the children of Israel go.

The children of Israel left Egypt crossing the red sea, only by a miracle and to this day still celebrate the passover. The passover was not just made to get the children of Israel out of Egypt. It was to show us a shadow of things that were to come. There would be a passover lamb one day whose blood would free us from this wicked world and the bondage of sin. This was the blood of the savior, the Jewish Messiah Jesus-Yeshua. It is no accident Jesus died during passover. Jesus sat in a room celebrating the passover the night he was crucified. He said himself to his disciples ” I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:Luke 22“. Jesus told them as they drank “This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.Luke 22:20″. He was telling them he was going to be crucified for all their sins and the sins of the world as Psalm 22:16 prophesied “they pierced my hands and my feet.”. Then He would rise from the grave after his crucifixion and sit in heaven having freed all who will ask him for salvation from their sins and hell. “Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.” Luke 22. Jesus-Yeshua was the passover lamb. If you want to be passed over from the plague of hell for an eternity you must apply his blood to your house by asking him to be your savior.

“Jesus-Yeshua I know I have sinned and deserve hell, but I know you died on the cross to save me. Please apply your blood to my life, I want to be saved from hell. Please take me to heaven when I die. In Jesus-Yeshua name Amen.”

Where Did People Groups Come From?

“the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.” Genesis 10

Noahsarkbanner2.jpg

towerofbabel2013

These are paintings I made to help people understand where the different people groups or skin colors came from. If you read Genesis 10 it explains clearly for anyone to understand what happened. After the flood Noahs family multiplied and eventually there was a lot of descendants. They began to build the tower of Babel and then God separated the languages. The people then scattered to different parts of the earth. The continents were probably still attached through land bridges which eventually fell into the water as the earth settled. The earth is still settling today that’s why we have sink holes, volcanoes, earth quakes…ect The earth was never the same after the flood. It caused these amazing land forms we see today in places like Yellowstone national park. As the people spread out and inter-married those who also spoke their languages the features became enhanced. That is what created the different people groups we see today. “the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided;” Genesis 10:25. This is speaking of a time when the earth was divided further after the flood and the tower of Babel, and the dispersion of generations of people throughout the continents. This division is probably speaking of earthquakes that have broken up the once connected continents.

What Happened to the Dinosaurs?

What Happened to the Dinosaurs?

This is a question most people have. My answer is “yes” something did happen to the dinosaurs but it is not what you think. The Bible says at one time there was a canopy around the earth some kind of water was held above our sky. This set up would create a green house effect. It would block out dangerous sun rays, increase oxygen pressure greatly, stabilize the climate and give us garden of Eden conditions. From what I understand lizards never stop growing so under perfect conditions like these they could grow to be enormous. Continue reading

The Lord’s Supper Painting

“For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.” Psalm 55:12-13

This is my Lord’s Supper Painting it is meant to be cartoon like. The emphasis was on Judas as I read Psalm 55:12-13 I realized how this was prophesying of Judas long before it ever happened.

Such A Time As This

The reason I created this blog is to be a sister to my Art Blog creationartist.com where I could share my thoughts about faith and the world around us. I often posted these things on my art blog and it was beginning to look disorderly. I made my art blog to minister to people through my art work. I thought a second blog called “Such A Time As This” to share my thoughts on the world around us and Biblical truth was needed. Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.

“Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” Mark 4:19

Shame on us if we will not follow Jesus and be fishers of men!

Souls simply need to hear that if they “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved,”Acts 16:31 They can know for sure they are going to heaven! If they will pray and admit ” Lord, I know I am a sinner and I deserve hell. Please forgive me and take me to heaven because Jesus died for my sins!” They can be saved today. We are only one breath away from either hell or heaven. ” “he shall save the humble person.” Job 22:29

God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.” Genesis 9:27 I have Indian descendents so I like to sometimes work on Indian artwork. Although Indians are drawn towards the spiritual side of things as descendents of Shem (Noah’s son) “he shall dwell in the tents of Shem”  with out Christ they are a lost people on their way to hell. The Bible is clear “I am the way, the truth and the life no man commeth unto the Father but by me.” John 3:16. Although many Indians did receive Christ when the pilgrims arrived there are many that still need to be reached.

Jesus In Jewish Art Chagall Style

I happened to find Marc Chagall a famous Jewish artist who painted this of Jesus. His style of painting is fascinating to me…although some of his paintings are not appropriate. This one certainly is very important since it features Jesus presenting himself to the Jewish people in their time of need. Something I have been reading a lot about lately, biographies of Jewish people coming to know Jesus as their Messiah after the holocaust.

What does it mean to take up the cross and follow Jesus? I believe it means to die to your own selfish desires and worldliness and be a soulwinner. “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Mark 4:19 Bearing the reproach, shame, affliction and loss that comes with the job of being a witness for Christ conforms us more to his image…

Esther Painting

“Esther” Water based oil on canvas

“Then the king held out the golden sceptre toward Esther.” Esther 8:4″now what is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee:”Esther9:12

This painting is a scene from the book Ester. Today the Jewish people celebrate Purim in honor of God using Esther to spare them from destruction. The Bible tells us an evil man (Hayman) that worked for the king plotted to destroy the Jewish people. Hayman hated Mordecai Esther’s uncle who prayed to God.  Esther just happened to be Jewish and just happened to marry the king. In this scene she is approaching the King and telling him she is Jewish and she wants her people to be saved. She is risking her own life in this case to save her people. the king could have her killed at any moment, not only for approaching him but also for being a Jew. Because of her brave act the Jewish people were spared and later Jesus was born of the Jewish nation to be the savior of the world. How happy she must have been to hear these words “it shall be granted thee:”Ester9:12 Just as we can be joyful if we believe in our heart that Jesus died for our sins and ask Jesus to save us. An eternity in heaven is then granted to us!

The Athiest Artist

For the atheist artist. I can’t imagine the fury that God has for them. They copy the works of God maybe it is painting a flower, an animal, a beautiful country scene, a farm house or just a portrait. They seek their own glory for painting the works of God. Then deny the power of God and say look what I did see how great I am. God must be furious with them! ” the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:” Romans 1:20 The Bible tells us that from the creation we can see the creator so we have no excuse not to recognize him.

Many of the atheist have bought into this lie that the world just made it self over time. Creation just happened. The Bible warns of this kind of thinking, the ” all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” 2 Peter 3:4. nonsense kind of logic. This is dangerous thinking..

Realizing God Is Always There

This painting is about realizing that the God of the Bible is always there. The rainbow pattern on the ground leading from the foreground to the background is demonstrating this reality to us in the form of color. Being a visual person I like to see something physical that reminds me of this fact…
