Is JEHOVAH the only name of God?

That [men] may know that thou, whose name alone [is] JEHOVAH, [art] the most high over all the earth.  Psalm 83:18

I have run into several people who take this verse out of context and say that the only real true name for God is JEHOVAH. This is almost funny it is so wrong. Zechariah 12:10 “they shall look upon me whom they have pierced.” has JEHOVAH him self saying “they shall look upon me whom they have pierced”. Clearly this is speaking of the Lord Jesus Christ who was pierced! Revelation 1:7-8 “every eye shall see him, and they [also] which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” This puts the icing on the cake when you compare with this passage in Isaiah 44:6 “I [am] the first, and I [am] the last; and beside me [there is] no God.” to this passage in Revelation “I am the first and the last:I [am] he that liveth, and was dead;” Revelation 1:17-18 Clearly Jesus is the one who “was dead” and both passages say that Jesus and Jehovah are the first and the last and that there is no other God besides the first and the last. Jesus is God. “Behold, God [is] my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH [is] my strength and [my] song; he also is become my salvation.” Isiah 12:2

I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by [the name of] God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. Exodus 6:3 JEHOVAH, means a self-existent self-sufficient Being, this passage it speaking of them knowing God as even greater than they think. Continued study of the Bible shows that there are many different names for God and clearly Jesus is God.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, [and] there is nothing too hard for thee: Jeremiah 32:17

“Prairie Baptist Church”

Prairie Baptist Church is the church I attend and love! This is a gospel preaching church.  They are an independent fundamental Baptist church. Which means they have no governing body, and they follow the Bible. Prairie has one of the best preachers I have ever known. Preacher Harrison has a sincere love for God. He also has a gift for family counseling as well. He is a joyful preacher and shows us how to have joy in the Christian life! The music is clean and inspiring, it makes you want to love Jesus more every time you hear it. They also have a school great school if you are looking for a school in the Kalamazoo area. “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” John 7:38

Are we reading the Bible enough so that out of our belly is flowing rivers of living water? If we are getting water in then water will flow out. A body with out water becomes sick. Drinking this water makes us clean, healthy, teaching us about salvation, heaven, family, and all the issues of life.

For example, why do I believe someone must ask for salvation?

“Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?” John 4:10-11 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. John 4:14 These verses are clear about asking for salvation and receiving everlasting life.

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth:God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am [he]. John 4:23-26

These verses are great because they show us that Jesus was not just a good man, or a prophet, but He is the messiah the Jewish people had been waiting for. He is in fact God in the flesh “a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”Matthew 1:23

“thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”

“Blessed are ye, when [men] shall revile you, and persecute [you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven:” Matthew 5:11-12

It is amazing how this is becoming more of a reality today. Some people scoff at you for saying Jesus is the way to heaven. Let us not forget “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6 so we know Jesus is the only way to heaven. Some bauk at godly Christian standards. Like holy music, clean dress, abstinence, faithfulness and integrity. How can people be so hard hearted not to see that doing opposite of these activities are clearly hurting our youth and families around the world. With teenage pregnancy, abortion, rape, pornography, divorces, adultery, suicide and the list goes on and on of things that should not be taking place happening. Many of these things are provoked because of a lack of Biblical standard in the home. It is hard for people to judge right and wrong with out clear Biblical guidelines. The idea that people will even defend this wreck-less style of living is outrageous “Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.” Psalm 55:19

Fortunalty we have a loving God and he uses all bad things for good.“[It is] good for me that I have been afflicted;” Psalm 119:71. God uses affliction to bring us closer to him. Thankfully we “sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.” 1 Thessalonians 4:17. We know that “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” 1 Corinthians 15:19 What a joy it is to share with others that Jesus can save them from their sins and hell. They can have relief and be right with God they just need to believe in their heart that he died on a cross to make payment for their sins and ask him to save them. Thankfully ” my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour” Luke 1:47 and yours can too! Each affliction should draw us closer to Jesus and seeing his life lived through and in us. When people mistreat me or I suffer I remember my saviour was treated this way too. “Blessed are ye, when [men] shall revile you, and persecute [you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven:” Matthew 5:11-12″

How can singing win souls for Christ? It is pretty simple in the army you sing songs to keep your spirit up, to keep your heart on the battle and to give more courage to the soldier. During the great revivals Christians sang songs about the Bible with Bible verses in them. They were full of doctrine about the resurrection, the second coming, blood atonement, grace and forgiveness. Singing is one of the highest forms of communication.What people listen to really effects their thinking. Several people I knew in the past that committed suicide listened to rock music which often glorifies suicide. Why are we seeing less revival and more wordiness in the church? I believe it is because the music has become more like the world and has less doctrine, Bible verses and holiness to it. I believe if we get back to or stay with godly music in the churches we can see revival.

What Happened to the Dinosaurs?

I have been asked this question frequently. My answer is “yes” something did happen to the dinosaurs but it is not what you think. The Bible says at one time there was a canopy around the earth some kind of water was held above our sky. This set up would create a green house effect. It would block out dangerous sun rays, increase oxygen pressure greatly, stabalize the climate and give us garden of Eden conditions.

Many have examined these verses and clearly this is a Biblical account of a dinosaur. No other animal has “his tail like a cedar”. This is one of many accounts in the Bible of dinosaurs living …

What does it mean to take up the cross and follow Jesus? I believe it means to die to your own selfish desires and worldliness and be a soulwinner. “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Mark 4:19 Bearing the reproach, shame, affliction and loss that comes with the job of being a witness for Christ conforms us more to his image…

I frequently run into people who say they have asked Jesus to save them before but do not know if they are saved any more. I ask them several questions. Did you understand that he died for you and was raised from the dead? Did you understand you were on your way to hell for your sin and when you asked him to save you you were receiving a pardon for you sin? Then I explain to them that if they were genuine about asking him to save them that salvation can not be lost. If we could do any thing to lose it we would never have gotten it as a free gift to begin with. In other words we do not work for salvation so we cannot lose it by not working.

I frequently run in to people who are quick to judge other peoples salvation. They say that they do not think a person can simply be saved by Christ alone, that there is more to it. Ephesians tells us “by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:”2:8

Independence day is a fun day to celebrate and a great time to share the gospel with people. We get very excited about having independence, liberty or freedom. But there is a far greater freedom that people need and that comes only by Jesus Christ. The freedom I am talking about is the freedom from sin and from a wicked world of sin.This freedom comes by grace alone, what I mean by that is that heaven is a gift Jesus purchased on the cross when he died to cover our sins. This gift can only come when a person asks Jesus personally to save them from hell. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.Romans 4:5 The Bible also says “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:10

When I start complaining I remember I have victory over this world through Jesus and his blood that was shed for me on the cross.[Saying], Blessed [are] they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.Romans 4:7 Jesus does not just give us a wonderful heaven when we leave this earth whether by rapture or by death. He gives us power to live more abundantly while we are here. Jesus gives us victory from sin that binds us and controls us if we let him. If we serve him he will help us to let go of the things of this world “Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15 We can not love God and love sin or things of this world to. But thankfully the more we love God the more we can let go of the things that hurt us anyway. ” In Gods word we find “proclaim liberty throughout [all] the land unto all the inhabitants thereof:” Leviticus 25:10 God has given us all a great purpose to share the gospel with others and free those that are captive to sin and hell. “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15 If we simply obey his word and share the gospel we will see God work in our lives, and will love him more and the world less and have more freedom from sin.

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Hebrews 13:8

Jesus always wants us to share the gospel where ever we are at, whatever we are doing there is always opportunity. He wants us to reach people with the gospel who are other wise dieing and going to hell. “for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:” Matthew 7:13 Until we reach heaven our job is not done, estimated 250,000 people go to hell every week. The gospel is that Jesus (who is God) died on the cross to save us from hell because we are sinners. If we “believe in our heart” and confess with our mouth we will be saved. The Bible says “we must be born again” so what does that mean?

There is  something wrong if we do not have a burden to reach people with the gospel. To know that the gospel is true and people will really either go to hell or heaven. Then to know that you can make the difference in what they chose by simply opening your mouth and choosing not to tell them, that is sad. “If thou forbear to deliver [them that are] drawn unto death, and [those that are] ready to be slain;If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider [it]? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth [not] he know [it]? and shall [not] he render to [every] man according to his works?” Proverbs 24:11-12 God says in the Bible what are you going to say we did not know? Surely if someone had to share the gospel with you so that you could be saved. You need to tell others so they can be saved. God burdened my heart to stop at a particular home today. When I stopped the door was wide open. A lady came to the door and I talked to her and shared the gospel with her. She thankfully bowed her head and prayed to receive Christ as her savior! She was grateful for the truth and it will make an eternity of a difference for her life and her family. “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13

This is Verda which ironically means truth. I was telling someone today how I found the truth a short while after I had her, that is when I accepted Jesus Christ as my savior. The greatest evidence for the Bible is simply “truth”. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6 How can anyone tell truth with out the Bible? Is there any way to tell right from wrong? Do you know if your going to heaven with out the Bible? Of course not! The greatest or best evidence for the Bible is simply truth. If Jesus is the way there can not be any other way and there certainly is not any other way.

Clearly it is Gods long suffering and that He does not want people to go to hell. He has not returned yet because He wants to leave the door open as long as possible. But the Bible says people will get worse and worse, false teacher will rise up…”that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. ” 2 tim3:1-5

“Dock of Life”

This painting reminds me of just how big God is. This is done from a picture of a dock I visited years ago. I saw my husband at this dock three of four years before we actually met.  A friend and her parents  and I actually came to this dock to get our sewage pumped out of their boat. Yes, my husband was the guy who we believe pumped it out. We actually caught each others eye at that moment only to never see each other again or so we thought. Eventually a different friend in a different town introduced me to “this guy I just had to meet” through some miraculous timing and circumstances. He turned out to be that same guy I remember standing on that dock. We have a Big God, he has all circumstances under his control.

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1

Revival

Revival always comes when When Christians share the gospel and live holy lives! I have seen around 200 people accept Christ as their savior in the last year by simply handing out gospel tracts and sharing my testimony with them.

“ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad” 1 Thessalinians 1:7-8

This is a good organization to get tracts from if you do not have access to any in your church. I believe they are Independent Fundamental Baptist as well.

Today we saw two people saved. What a wonderful day! It was a divine appointment. These two teenagers were asking their parents questions about spiritual things earlier this week. Their parents did not know what to tell them. Then today we give them a gospel tract and told them how to receive Jesus. Their parents encouraged them to listen while I explained that Jesus died on the cross to save us because we are sinners and we deserve hell. Then I asked them do you believe that? Yes they said we do, okay have you asked him to save you from hell? No. Do you want to ask him to save you? Yes they did…and right there each of them in their own words asked Jesus to save them from hell and take them to heaven when they die, because of what he did for them on the cross. They gladly with tear filled eyes accepted the Lord what a wonderful day! “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the lord shall be saved”. God is good,Nothing brings more joy and freedom than knowing your on your way to heaven.

Flowers remind me to keep what is really important in front of my eyes. Time is short and our opportunity to reach people for Christ will soon be over. We need to take advantage of the time we have to reach others with the gospel. “[As for] man, his days [are] as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.” Just like the flower fades away so will our lives soon be over. We will have great joy and rejoicing in heaven, especially with those we bring with us because we shared the gospel and they accepted Christ as their savior!

There is plenty of evidence that God created. Those who will not look at the evidence are “willingly ignorant” the Bible says. A persons world view basically breaks down to a person believing God made them and gave them purpose in life, or some how nothing evolved into something with no clear reason why. When should I get baptized? Just about every time I share the gospel with someone this question comes up some where in the conversation. This should not come as any shock, the Bible gives us the answer! In the Bible I never have found one infant baptism.  This practice is not scriptural at all….

Can we have love with out Jesus? The scripture says “God is love” and Jesus is God. So I do not know why we think we can have love with out Jesus. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13 Jesus showed us the greatest love when he died on the cross for our sins. Can we say that we love someone and not tell them the truth about Jesus so that they can be saved? No. Love with out truth is not love it is hypocrisy. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6 If Jesus is the truth we must need Jesus in order to love! “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins.Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.” 1 John 4:8-10 If we truly love people we will tell them about the gospel of Jesus Christ so that they can be saved and go to heaven.

Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. 1John 4:15

“Mountain Painting”

“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.John 3:3

This is a painting done from a picture a woman who worked with my midwife gave to me. In a sense being a midwife reminds me of soul winning. Being a soul winner you are always on call and never know when the delivery will come.The Bible makes it clear there needs to be a second birth for someone to go to heaven. “Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”John 3:5 This is certainly talking of a spiritual birth, coming to the realization that Jesus is God and our savior who died physically on a cross for you sins and accepting him personally through your mouth. “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”Romans 10:10. If you have not personally asked Jesus to be your savior I am encouraging you to do that so you can be “Born again” and enter in to heaven. Just open your heart to God and let him know you believe Jesus died for your sins and want to be saved.

American Exceptionalism

America Is an exceptional nation because we were built on a Christian foundation. We can tell just this by looking at places and events that have taken place in our country, such as the Mayflower compact,Pledge of Allegiance,The Statue of Liberty,The National Anthem,The Constitution of the United States,The Great Awakenings,The Liberty Bell. We have freedom to speak the gospel and read the Bible here that is not available in many other countries because America is exceptional! It is only this way because America was founded as a Christian nation.America in much unlike other nations especially Islamic countries. True Christians have never forced any one to convert to Christianity. They can not force any one to become a true Christian. Becoming a Christian requires true faith and genuine repentance of the heart. Just as the Bible teaches  Salvation is by Christ alone through faith alone! “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 For someone to become a genuine Christian they are required to believe they are a sinner, that they deserve hell because God is just, and Jesus who is God died on the cross for their sins. Then they must acknowledge this by praying and asking God sincerely to save them.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”Romans 10:9-10

“For all the gods of the nations [are] idols: but the LORD made the heavens.” Psalm 96:5

This verse makes it pretty clear that the only God is Jesus Christ the Lord and all other gods are simply fake idols. I get asked the question often “Are all other gods false?” Yes they are, even the people who worship false gods know they are. Before I was a Christian I was involved with other religious practices and we can tell that they were not the truth. After accepting Jesus Christ as my savior through genuine prayer I have seen him preform miracles in my life daily. So that I can claim the verse “Blessed [be] the Lord, [who] daily loadeth us [with benefits, even] the God of our salvation.” Psalm 68:19 It brings so much joy to know that your God is the true one and he cares for you.  The Bible shows us that our God is one God that contains three parts. The Father, the son and the holy spirit. “baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” Matthew 28:29 and “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” 1 John 5:7 are among many verses that bring us to that conclusion. These three are connected making one God “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God [is] one LORD:” Deuteronomy 6:4. From the scripture we can see that there is only one God. Jesus is both the creator and redeemer of the world. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made…He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.He came unto his own, and his own received him not.But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:” John 1:1-12

This is something that we should all be a part of. I find it amazing what the missionaries with the Canadian Gospel project are doing! They are putting together a program to get the gospel into every home in Canada! They are taking donations and looking for sponsors for this project. What is the good news?

The Bible tells us that “all have sinned”Romans 3:23 and that “there is none that doeth good.”Psalm 14:1. We know our selves that we have done things that are wrong. The Bible describes hell as being a place of everlasting torment-”And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.” Then the Bible puts it this way “whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:14-15. Because of our sin “our wages” or what we have earned our self is death-the second death which we just read was the lake of fire. But the Bible also tells us that “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16. It also tells us that “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:10. Then the Bible says that “whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”Romans 10:13.

From these verses we understand that if you believe and pray to the Lord  something like:

“I know I have sinned and deserve hell. But I want you Jesus to save me and take me to heaven. Because I know you died to save me and rose again to live forever. In Jesus name I pray amen.”

You can know that God has pardoned your sin and saved your soul.

There is nothing better than knowing you are on your way to heaven! That is the good news.

Many people have never heard the gospel all around the world. Some are even in churches in America and have never had a clear presentation of the gospel. They do not even know what will get them to heaven. As Christians our job is to get the gospel out to people all around the world. The Bible says “ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Acts 1:8 We need first of all to find a good gospel preaching church if we do not have one. Once you find a good gospel preaching church get involved and help with their soulwinning program. Give out tracts on a regular basis. If you saw someone in a burning building would you stop to help them? Of course, people are on their way to a burning hell who have not accepted Jesus as their savior all the time. Can you stop to give them a tract? I have seen many people saved by handing them a tract, it works! Once you are in a good gospel preaching church support missionaries who make it their job to get the gospel out to people who have never heard in foreign countries all over the world. They are making huge sacrifices in obedience to God in order to get the gospel out. They are risking their own lives in many cases and willingly suffering for the cause of Christ. Clearly the gospel is true or else why would they bother going and telling. That is exactly what Jesus and his disciples did, why should we not do the same? Lastly pray for your missionaries, we can not see what God is doing a lot of the time because we are not asking him to do any thing. It is really neat when you pray for a revival to happen for a particular missionary and it does! God is real and reveals him self to us when we are saved, praying, reading the Bible, sharing the gospel, living holy and separated Christian lives. It is amazing what God can do!

From what I understand an independent Fundamental Baptist is simply someone who believes a church should have no governing body who chooses who will go into the pulpit. Socotran of Yemen
This painting is of one of the exotic plants found on the island of Socotra. Socotran people live on an island of Socotra, which is between Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. There are numerous exotic plants found on this Island. This Island is tropical, the people there survive by fishing, and pearl diving. Unfortunately there is few if any Christians among the Islanders.
